Top Billing chats to Expresso presenter Thabiso Makhubela
As we got near the business end of Presenter Search on 3 last year, the triple threat we all had to keep an eye on was Thabiso Makhubela. A natural entrepreneur, marketing brain and trend-setter in décor and style, since landing his gig on Expresso, the man has not wasted a second.
With a background in youth radio, a business degree, and his own brand agency, Thabiso has an ability to get the story, whatever the subject, and it made him a perfect fit for popular wake-up morning show Expresso.
While the new gig means Thabiso has to face a lot of early mornings, the energetic presenter says he loves setting the tone for what the day looks like for a lot of South Africans.
Expresso isn’t the only new addition to his resume, Thabiso also got to co-present laste year’s exciting season of Win A Home, the popular home renovation competition show.
He was perfectly suited to the role because of his natural flair for interior design, something that is evident in his own stunning Cape Town apartment.
When it comes to style, whether in clothing or decor, Thabiso has one golden rule: “simple but effective”, a mentality that he says guides him through his life daily.

Originally from Johannesburg, a lot of his special interior pieces had to be shipped down, while he also brought other consistent elements like the black, white and dark grey colour scheme.
One special piece on display is his GQ Best Dressed Man 2018 award, which he received when the iconic magazine recognised him for his dapper dress sense.
