Basic Reality Basic Reality is not a systematically curated exhibition of work by young artists. Rather, it is a show, presented at Goodman Gallery Projects at Arts on Main, which connects the common concerns of art students, recent graduates as well as artists who have remained independent from the commercial gallery circuit. An underlying interest in the theory of reality is a thread observed by Katrin Lewinsky, who has been looking at work produced by emerging artists for the past three years. While Basic Reality uncovers a conceptual ethos, it also gives this group of up-and-coming visual artists an opportunity to present work in an established space without specified curatorial supervision.
Basic Reality presents the work of Quinten Edward Williams, Tiffany Mentoor, Thabiso Sekgala, Gerarf Machona , Murray Kruger, Samantha Hill, Ravi Govender, Mina Lundgreen, Jacques du Toit, Peter Mikhael Campbell, Jamal Nxedlana, Maja Marx and Monique Pelser.
Opens at the Goodman Gallery Projects, Arts on Main, Sunday 4 September 2011 at 12h00. 4 September - 9 October 2011
