Top Billing Visits The Noordhoek Garden Wonderland Of Nola Muller.
Hailing from the beach-side town of Noordhoek, Nola Muller has already cemented herself as an established fine artist but this talented woman is also a great indigenous gardener.
When she’s not utilising the canvas as her medium, you can find her creating entirely different masterpieces - using plants instead of paint.
Nola won the award for “Best Indigenous Garden” at last year’s Noordhoek Open Gardens event and this was as a result of the previous twelve years that the artist spent planting & nurturing her wonderland. When Nola set out to create her garden masterpiece all the vegetation on her property had been bulldozed away to create a buttress for the house which she shares with her husband Gianni Viotti. In the thirty-five years that they have been partners, the couple both affirm that this garden is one of their proudest creations.
It all began with the laying down of pathways along the contours of the slopes found at Nola’s home. Building up from the hardy ground covers to fynbos plants, aloes and various sculptures that Nola carefully curated, she created a surprise at every turn.
Nola is an avid adventurer and in addition to the local plant kingdom, thanks travel as her secondary muse. The inspiration she has drawn from her travels has led her to an acclaimed career as an artist. She’s gone as far as to trek through the Himalayas, thereafter holding a successful exhibition based on what she saw there titled “Nepal Vision”.
Nola is a self-taught artist, and the range of her work has seen her hold twenty-three successful solo exhibitions. In addition to her art, Nola and Gianni run a successful framing business together and there is no shortage of original work for them to sell.
Ever the adventurer, Nola was born with a competitive, athletic streak and has completed twenty Argus cycle races, is an avid snow-skier and loves to take to the waves for a surf.
It’s easy to see that Nola’s zest for travel & keeping active in the beautiful world around her is what has made her such an established artist & gardener!
