Top Billing attends Mister South Africa 2019
This year’s Mister South Africa brought us pharmacists, Olympians, students, teachers, actuaries and all-around impressive men.
The audience was packed with judges, past winners and celebrities, and the title was anyone’s to win. The qualities that would count most this year were integrity, adventure, professionalism and compassion – as new Chief Executive JP Robberts explained.
This year’s competition changed the face of pageantry, and was asking “what can you do for your country?” as opposed to just having model looks.
According to judge Thaamir Moerat, he was looking for an all-around gentleman who could present himself and his country well, while judge Hanle Barnard says all the men displayed caring personalities.
These were certainly qualities that the winner, Heinrich Gabler, had to offer.
From a childhood where he lost his mother and was raised in a children’s home, Heinrich chose to help children and became a teacher. This win is a dream come true for him.
With his title he hopes to empower those in need, particularly through his NPO, which donates second hand sporting equipment to less fortunate.
Now who better than a teacher to stand for what we need and prize most highly in this country, education. Congratulations Heinrich, you get our vote too!
