Top Billing attends the 2019 Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo
The Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo 2019 was one of the most stylish events of the sporting calendar, and the Top Billing gents didn’t disappoint.
If the champagne was French, the rides were strictly Italian and the legendary racing marque of Maserati offered their finest sportscar to Ryle, Fez and Harmony – who arrived in style, marking a reunion for the League of Extraordinary Gentleman.
The stunning Val de Vie polo fields were adorned with Veuve Clicquot yellow and guests dressed in shades from sunburst yellow to blush pinks, with our own beautiful Ayanda in a colour all her own.
This year’s theme was ‘Colourama’, and according to Market Manager: Moet Hennessy South Africa, Mike Ellingworth, it was inspired by Veuve Clicquot as colour is an integral part of the brand.
Among the pan-African celebrities and influencers joining the party, actor and producer Terrence ‘J’ Jenkins flew in from Los Angeles, and stood out in his stunning subtle suit.
Other guests included Dr Musa Mthombeni, Blue Mbombo and SABC 3 Programme Manager Hamilton Ngubo, who says the event is in line with the SABC 3 target audience as it’s also a platform where you can find a piece of yourself and live your dream.
Another stylish guest was designer Orapeleng Modutle and his friend Lebogang Matlala, both wearing stunning Crystal Birch designed hats. As is synonymous with the designer’s brand, both looked incredibly chic, proving once again that incredible local design with authentic South African materials make for the most luxurious goods.
Orchestrating the day was Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner, Nomzamo Mbatha, who is proud to be a part of the prestigious event that is held around the world, not just in SA.
When it came to the actual polo, marketing director at Val de Vie, Ryk Neethling, assured us it would be an exciting day, and he was right.
Leading out the ponies were a team of Italian thoroughbreds in the Maserati Levante, Quattroporte, GranTurismo and GranCabrio.
The game itself resulted in the highest number of goals yet scored at the event, and professional polo player Benjamin Crowe’s team coming out on top of a thriller!
