Top Billing attends the dream woodlands wedding of Lindy Hibbard
When bubbly radio personality Lindy Hibbard and her Finish software developer husband Peter Lehto invited us to their magical woodlands wedding, we knew it was an event that couldn’t be missed!
Peter proposed to Lindy at a century old classic estate with a beautiful waterfall in the Paarl Winelands, where he arranged a surprise romantic picnic.
Whimsical Lindy and practical Peter seem very different, but their shared passions for life, nature and travel saw them hit it off right out of the blocks.
The day itself was every bride’s dream. Lindy’s dress was an Italian lace-covered custom creation by local designer Cindy Bam, who’s dressed many a celebrity for their big day. The design featured small lace leaves that fit the woodlands theme, and it was decorated with glass beads, sequins, and rhinestones. Lindy loves that it’s feather light, and that she could dance and enjoy the day in it freely.
Peter produces electronic music so you’ll often find him at music festivals in little more than jeans, a t-shirt, and headphones. This time however, the Finn went with an Italian fitted suit.
ith the couple’s shared love of the outdoors, the woodlands theme was spot on. This nod to Peter’s childhood in the forests of Finland was a breeze for wedding planner San Marie Jacobs, who went with a “less is more approach” to fit the personality of the couple.
The flower arrangements featured white roses (Lindy’s favourite), orchids, freesias and hydrangeas. San Marie didn’t work alone. The pink embroidered cushions decorating the seating areas where created by Lindy’s mother, Cheryl, while Jene Steyn baked something for everyone into her cake.
Peter chose a creamy carrot cake for his layer, Lindy requested a chocolate cake with salted caramel and chocolate frosting, while the top layer was a vegan chocolate cake.
The wedding went perfectly according to plan with beautiful weather, a perfect first dance and a speech from the groom that didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.
The couple would love to start a family, but before then they’re looking forward to yet more travel in 2019… for which Peter says Lindy will probably overpack.
