Top Billing attends the wedding of Alyssa Buettgen and Andrew Chaplin
The couple met at a party when Alyssa asked Andrew to dance. Five years later, he proposed to her in an art gallery, where the bride’s self-designed wedding ring hung in a frame.
In order to celebrate, the couple threw a glamorous engagement party for all their friends, including celebrities like long time friends Liezel van de Westhuizen and Jeannie D.
The wedding itself was a smaller affair, with close friends and family joning them at a private estate in the mountains, rather than a large venue, and the atmosphere had the warmth of a family weekend away.
Andrew knows his bride as a woman who works in the most disadvantaged communities each day, so if anyone was due the spoiling of a Janita Toerien dress, it was this lady.
Alyssa wanted something big and dramatic, and th e final product was exactly that with its large skirt and diamante open back. The large skirt clipped over a more fitted skirt of the dress, which allowed for more freedom of movement when the bride danced the night away.
The couple chose a late afternoon start as both love the magic of early evening, and with such heart-warming vows between the two, even those in shoulder-less dresses forgot it was winter.
Instead of a sit-down dinner, they went straight from the ceremony into a night-long party, a perfect tribute to the night they met.
From here, the newlyweds move to Joburg, and this was one Mother City of a send-off!
