Of the many self-made, young South Africans we’ve met, Priven Reddy’s story stands out. He took himself from car guard to heading up the leading mobile software development company in Africa and his is a tale of pure inspiration.
With multiple corporate and software awards, Priven is always looking forward. He recently launched the world’s first cryptocurrency coin with the ability to trade itself. But his journey had modest beginnings.
Priven grew up in Chatsworth to a father who instilled virtues of hard work and honesty in him but his dad passed away when he was eleven and he had to fend for himself and his family.
The lifestyle he now lives is the result of a work ethic which began in childhood with Priven collecting cardboard boxes around Clairwood and selling them to a local recycler.
It was a rude customer who made this dynamo quit waiting tables and with no backing, start a business. He read widely on web design, graphics and landed his first client. Doing the best job he could for that first client led to more clients and ultimately to the incredible businesses he now owns and runs.
Business took off when Priven got a call to develop an App for a global company. His team did such a good job that today he can happily take time for an evening cruise in his V12 Lamborghini, knowing that the biggest names in entertainment, the airlines, as well as the world’s biggest search engine – are his clients.
Before the penthouse apartment or extensive client list, Priven learned that with any start up, you have to sell your services like your life depends on it, because sometimes it does. Afloat on the healthy asset base of his new kryptocurrency firm, Mr. Reddy never waited for his ship to come in. He built his own, launched and never looked back.
