Top Billing meets the creative family behind Siyabonga Ceramics
The ceramics of Siyabonga Fani make art of our everyday objects, and in just six years since starting his business, the international market is calling.
Siya and his brother Madoda Fani are from a family of creatives. Their father was a self-taught artist and though it wasn’t his profession, he planted the seed from which their work grew.
After making ceramics for others, Siya furthered his business studies, went freelance, and the world began to notice his work.
Five years ago, he flew to New York in search of new business. He found markets for his work, was inspired by The Big Apple’s famous work ethic and he returned, wanting to share the spotlight.
Today his amazing hand-decorated pieces reflect African land and seascapes, and are drawing international attention.
This master also teaches adults with disabilities to make ceramics and he’ll often take them to markets to help sell their product.
To learn more about his amazing journey, tune in to Top Billing this Saturday at 6PM!
