Artist Greatjoy Ndlovu shares his work with Top Billing
Artist Greatjoy Ndlovu’s work hangs on walls across every continent - except Antarctica. It’s a global reach which has resulted from his attitude towards art, his talent, and his hard work.
Coming from humble beginnings, his has not been an easy journey, but today he is widely recognised as an incredible artist.
When the young Zimbabwean joined Jozi’s Living Artist Emporium, they polished and nurtured his skills into a style the market could not ignore.
Having been a talented drawer from a young age, Greatjoy picked up painting along the way and eventually felt he needed to choose a medium that gave his work full depth, opting for charcoal.
Greatjoy sees no division between his personal life and being an artist so it’s an exciting puzzle finding the meaning in each piece.
This has proved wildly succesful and was evident at the launch of his collaboration with a prominent interior design agency. To Michael Harrison, who discovered Greatjoy on social media, the partnership was instant chemistry.
This is not his only exciting venture though, Greatjoy’s life is also the subject of a book by Ntsikelelo Mzibomvu called The Path to Greatjoy. The author was inspired the Greatjoy’s story of coming so far and working so hard, and the collaboration made sense for the pair.
Greatjoy also has a relationship with SOS children’s Village, whom he created a piece for to action for charity. For this incredible artist, summer will see three more auctions of Ndlovu work, including one in London, an exhibition in Cape Town and maybe, one day - Antarctica!!
The artist has had an incredible journey, and thinks he is in a privileged position to give back to the community and inspire others.
