Harmony and singer Simmy bust a move on Top Billing
In the spirit of being you, not what others want you to think and sound like, Zulu recording artist Simmy is breaking barriers with her authentic music.
Born in 1994 in KwaZulu-Natal, Simphiwe Nhlangulela grew up with diverse musical influences from Letta Mbulu and Dolly Parton to R&B and house.
Her musical talent was initially discovered by producer DJ Mondy, and it wasn’t long until she was collaborating with his brother Sun-El Musician.
A Social Sciences graduate from The University of KwaZulu Natal, this songwriter naturally warms to new ideas and people, and she embraces authenticity by singing in Zulu and celebrating her natural hair.
Deciding to quit her job and pursue music full time was difficult but it paid off, and her album Tugela River Ferry has won her a national audience!
