Top Billing meets the founding couple of P&H Boutique
Top Billing speaks to Hetty and Papa Boachie of thriving local business P&H Boutique
Drawing on African wax print traditions, P&H Boutique’s modern traditional wear is handmade and captures the spirit of the couple who create them.
Married in 2010, the couple came up with the idea of starting a business together on their honeymoon. P&H was started in the spare bedroom of their own home while they both worked separate corporate jobs.
The well-oiled professional partnership between the two mirrors their close personal relationship, and they are both grateful to be building a legacy with their best friend. They met at the University of Pretoria in their very first week of studies, and sparks flew straight away.
From taking online orders at home to opening their first mall boutique in Pretoria and now boasting stores as far Nelspruit, first-hand experience with the public remains their chief inspiration, and they like to offer a personal experience to their shoppers, training staff to focus on the individual.
As for the clothing itself, there is no shortage of gorgeous options and cultural diversity, representing the different tribes of Africa.
To accessorize the clothing, they’ll soon also offer jewellery by African women designers.
The brand also just launched a children’s line and Papa is doing an MBA to franchise the business and give more women and young entrepreneurs a seat at the table.
With a passion for good service and quality products, Hetty and Papa are proving that local African businesses are the future!
