Top Billing meets the men of Magents
‘Magents’ is a byword for all that’s hip and fly in modern, urban, African style. With their new African Luxe line on show at SA Fashion Week, we went in search of this homegrown success story that began with t-shirts, now sells across Europe and will soon be seen on a concert tour of North America.
Didi founded the label while Thei Thei is their master of graphics, illustration, fabrics and washes. They always knew how good their gear was and unafraid to scale the heights of fashion, ten years ago, they moved their HQ to Paris. Retailers accepted them straight away. Shows followed in Barcelona, New York and Vegas.
Over lunch we got the label’s big plan going forward. An exhibition in Germany, stand-alone stores in S.A. within the next two years and a relaunch of their ladies line!
