Top Billing takes Metro FM DJ Mo Flava for a flight
As a Metro FM DJ, MoFlava is heard by four million listeners each day, and hosts The Drive from three to six p.m. He’s one of South Africa’s most popular media personalities, and even though he initially dreamed of being an architect, he was always drawn to media.
Majors in broadcasting, programming and journalism gave Mo a foundation he wants others to have, and he is giving away bursaries to young people studying media. Not only that, he is currently giving two school children from the township of Dube, where he grew up, the chance at a quality education with the “model-c” school.
Putting the metro in metro-sexual, the man who lives for cars and thrills also has three sisters and doesn’t mind getting his nails done every once in a while.
While his motto is ‘live and let live’, Mo’s three sisters – Matsibe, Palesa and Tshepiso Mahonko know him as a man who never fails to get involved when needed, and they are always on hand to help him when it comes to his children or any other sisterly request.
It’s impressive that he has been able to balance family with such an impressive and busy career, and he recently joined the Remix South Africa as a judge, where he can help foster young local talent.
Between radio, playing a Club DJ, philanthropist and candidate for best brother, MoFlava’s music career is also flying – following his latest single, Just Dance by him and KayV featuring Busi N.
It’s not all work and no play though, his idea of escape is gaming – or five a side soccer each week or controlled car spinning. Our own Jade Hubner was on hand to take him for a microlight flight, something we think he’ll do again! With a portfolio as succesful as his, how he keeps both feet on the ground is anyone’s guess.
