This amaziing home has fantastic atlantic views, a beautiful design, and an outside movie theatre!
A modernist show-stopper with a green heart, the house has solar panels, a watersaving automated pool cover and astroturf lawn. Given a limited footprint, space for garages had to be mined out beneath the house - but architect Ben Kotlowitz took everything in his stride.
While sophisticated, the décor style is understated, with an emphasis on relaxed, fun living. In a setting like this, the décor need not make a statement. It is smart, simple and functional.
Contrasting with the greys and neautral colours of the decor, the breakfast room and kitchen are an upbeat shade of white, extending to the joinery and pendant lighting. The best place to catch the morning sun!
The stunning central stairwell consists of floating steel and timber. The walls are highlighted by an imported finish, looking just like molten metal - and then a frosted glass feature wall.
The family room has a stunning bar and a lovely family lounge that leads out on to an stro turf lawn and the outdoor theatre.
The four guest rooms are all stunning and depending on the preference of visiting guests, they can either have a room with a balcony facing the Atlantic or one which leads onto the mountainside garden.
To allow entertainment, climate control, security and more to operate simultaneously - from one control - the house needed a central nervous system of its own. Enter Darryl Katz who ensured the smart home was fully automated and easy to use from any control panel. Lights, aircon, sound, TV and security could all be controlled with the touch of a button.
With the outdoor cinema waiting for Jonathan and the team, we asked dietician Jessica Kotlowitz for her slimming ummer alternatives to the traditional movie menu of popcorn, chocolate and fizzy drinks.
This being Vegan month, Jonathan found an all-plant based take on snacking to be surprisingly delicious!
