Designer Tristan Du Plessis shows Top Billing his dream home
Having fallen in love with architecture and design as a child, designer Tristan Du Plessis is in high demand due to his amazing eye and unique style, and it’s no surprise his own home is a décor-lover’s dream.
From his work in nightclubs, Tristan leans toward using darker colours. He does so to set the stage for light and to do it at home he had to find a place with enough natural light, something he found in his Parkhurst house.
Opting for a dark colour palette, the exterior of his home is quite eye catching, particularly because of the stunning mural painted on his neighbour’s wall.
The dark colours flow through to the interior, and his striking black kitchen is sophisticated and minimalistic. Tristan believes form should follow function, and he wanted the social space to act as the heart of the home.
The main living area is slightly more relaxed and quirky with a pop of colour.
From sci-fi themed fixtures to the understated lounge, the open plan area is as practical and comfortable as it is stylish, featuring wooden slats for warmth but still using the dark marble found in the kitchen.
Working from the U.S. to Italy and East Africa, Tristan has collected some fascinating art pieces, and his fascination with street art is evident in the pieces he has chosen.
The master suite has a softer feel with its minimal and monochrome design, and light fixtures that feel like they’re part of the art.
As meticulous as the design is, Tristan and his make-up artist and model girlfriend Kendall Aberdeen are happy for their new pup Mischu to have the run of the place!
