Top Billing tours a stunning woodland home
This stunning woodland home is perfect for those who enjoy nature, peacefulness and contemporary design.
Owner Jane Prinsloo wanted a home that would allow her privacy on the road side, and stunning views of the forest and mountain on the other.
The home was also designed to be adaptable, and to suit Jane as an individual while still being accommodating to a family. This was achieved by the two pavilions that are joined by glazed links.
The house was designed by architect Robert de Jager, and he and Jane spent seven months meticulously planning everything. Coincidentally, Robert is the former student of Jane’s late husband, an architecture professor at the University of Cape Town.
The house was designed to be as environmentally friendly and as sustainable as possible, and was shaped around the natural forest setting. The Cape Institute of Architecture recognised this amazing space and recently awarded it a prize for its amazing design.
As for the interior, Jane has filled her home with a personal collection dating back many years. Particularly special pieces include her husband’s extensive book collection, the Salvador Dali piece in the lounge, the Walter Battis in her shower, and the beautiful antique combs framed in her room.
It’s a good thing Jane is creative, because it would be hard not to feel inspired in this beautiful space!
