Katherine Kelly Lang talks love, life and Brooke Logan.
The Bold and The Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang is already beloved by millions of soapie-loving South Africans for her iconic portrayal of Brooke Logan for 31 years.
Katherine recently hit the shores of South Africa to take part in the Iron Man Championships and to explore our stunning country.
During her time here she took a keen interest in the political history of our country, and was on the edge of her seat hearing about the Rivonial Trial and apartheid system.
She joined us to visit Robbin Island and put places to the names she had heard so much about, while learning about our beautiful country and its past.
It was a trip which Katherine would have loved to share with her adult sons, Julian and Jeremy, daughter Zoe and step-daughter Danyelle, but alas she will just need to bring them aling next time for another trip.
Another highlight of her time here was exploring the gorgeous Cape scenery and landscape, with beautiful spots like Cape Point and the winelands.
As she told us, her grandfather Charles Lang was an Oscar winning photographer who would have loved film locations like these. Show business is clearly a family business for the Langs, and her father, Keith Wegeman and mother Judith Lang also enjoyed successful careers in the industry.
While she enjoyed some of the scenery with our team on a motorboat, she usually spends more time in the water than on it. Swimming 3.8 kilometres in cold, choppy waters is par for the course when she competes in World Championship triathlon events for charity.
Her established popularity as a household name has not gone to her head, and the humble celebrity has decided to use her platform for charitable causes.
Katherine is an ambassador for Women for Tri, an organisation aimed at increasing awareness and interest in triathlons, and she also works to raise cancer awareness.
It helps in raising awareness when thirty-six million television viewers across the globe are on a first name basis with Katherine’s beloved man-eater character, Brooke.
If her position as a respected actress wasn’t enough, the 57-year-old star still looks every bit the screen siren after 30 years on the show, all while being a grandmother, a competitive triathlete, and a globe-trotting campaigner for women’s health.
