Top Billing parties at the In the City Festival
In music, all roads seem to lead to Jozi these days, and that’s where we caught up with bands visiting from Australia, Germany and Britain. The Cat Empire, Milky Chance and The Kooks have all been in town and to any who don’t yet know them, allow us to make the introductions this week.
Glastonbury has the mud while the Vodacom In The City festival was bathed in sunshine this month, as thousands of live music lovers gathered at Emmarentia Dam for a full day’s worth of top local and international acts. The South African line-up included Grassy Spark, the quirky Cape Town band Al Bairre and P.H.fat who set the day up for a trio of bands right out of the top drawer.
This week, Chris unleashed his inner festival child and he catches up with the three bands setting the lineup on fire. MC’ing these awesome international acts was the privilege if 5FM’s Poppy Nshongwana, and she made sure the crowd was kept on their feet.
From first time visitors Milky Chance, musical legends The Cat Empire, and British rockers The Kooks, here's hoping that what SA fans have to offer will have them coming back for more.
